ous periodic and aperiodic signals respectively.
                                                    3. Analyse the LTI systems using differential equations, Fourier se-
                                                  ries and Fourier Transform.
                                                  4. Define Laplace transform properties and analyse and characteri-

Synopsis This is an important course where students are taught the various
techniques to analyse signals and systems. The course begins with
the mathematical representation of signals and systems properties.
The concepts of linearity, time invariance and the system’s response
from the convolution of the input with the system’s impulse response
form an important part of the course. Time domain analysis of the sys-
tem will be covered in detail. Next, the representation of periodic and

aperiodic signals using the Fourier series and Fourier Transform re-
spectively is discussed. The application aspects of Fourier series and
Fourier Transform in analysing LTI systems will be given in the form of
examples and problems to be solved. The properties of Laplace trans-
form will be covered along with the analysis of LTI systems using it.
Finally, the dependence of the frequency response on poles and ze-
ros will be analysed to design the desired filters.
