COURSE INFORMATION FOR CURRENT SEMESTER/TERM
Code KEEE4321
Title High Voltage Engineering
Pre-requisite None
Student Learning Time (SLT) 120 hours
Credit 3
Learning Outcomes 1. i Explain the phenomena of breakdown in insulation and gener-
ation of AC, DC and impulse voltages
2. ii.Design bushing insulation system in high voltage equipment
3. iii.Justify insulation coordination in substations
4. Iv.Analyze condition based monitoring data in high voltage insu-
lation system
Synopsis Student will be introduced to phenomena of breakdown in gases,
liquids and solid dielectrics, partial discharge, overvoltages and in-
sulation coordination. Student will also be taught on the generation
of DC, AC and impulse voltages and high voltage bushing design.
Various types of insulation materials, cable insulation, application of
insulating materials and techniques of condition based monitoring
are exposed to students in this course.
Assessment 40 % Continuous Assessments
60 % Final Examination
