                                                                                    The department was established in
                                                                                    1958  and  is  one  of  the  oldest
                                                                                    departments  in  the  University  of
                                                                                    Malaya. Many graduates from this
                                                                                    Department  have  moved    on  to
                                                                                    become   successful   individuals
                                                                                    who  have  contributed  to  the
                                                                                    growth of the nation.

                                                                                    MED    currently   offers   two
                                                                                    undergraduate  courses,  Bachelor
                                                                                    of  Materials  Engineering,  both  of
                                                                                    which  require  a  minimum  of  four
                                                                                    years to complete. The Bachelor of
                                                                                    Materials  Engineering  course  has
                                                                                    commenced  in  the  academic
