1. Analyze the boiler in terms of design, construction and efficiency
2. Describe gas and vapour cycles and improvement of cycle efficiencies
3. Evaluate turbines and flow machineries.
4. Explain thermo-chemistry of combustion. Study of engines and pollu-
tion control.

Team work
Synopsis of Course Contents This course exposes the students to boiler design and construction details,
furnace and mountings of boiler operation, rules and regulations and
maintenance. Among other topics the design, work mechanism, construc-
tion and efficiency and maintenance of steam and gas turbines are high-
lighted. Knowledge on steam cycles, the cycle efficiency calculations and
improvement of cycle efficiency being emphasized. Study of fuel and fuel
technology, diesel engine, combustion chemistry, environmental pollution
control, centrifugal machines, mixed flow machines and axial flow machines
are being incorporated.
