REMOTE LEARNING (RL)

Everything is at the tip of our fingers and Universiti Malaya wants
to embrace that.
We are now introducing Remote Learning (RL) as a
way forward for students to engage in their
academic learning experience. It is a conventional
programme with study methods implemented in
situations where students are not physically
present in a traditional classroom environment
but attending class online and remotely.
Quality of teaching and learning are not
compromised with the RL method. Students are
able to engage with classmates and lecturers
through interactive sessions.
Remote Learning uses the method as currently
implemented during the pandemic and requires a
dedicated electronic platform such as SPECTRUM,
Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams & etc.

Benefits of Remote Learning

Flexibility
Allows students to earn a degree without living near a college campus or without the
hassle of travel. It offers more flexibility and control over your own learning schedule as
most of its resources are provided online, remote students have the privilege of learning
where they wish.

Quality & Technology-driven
The quality of programmes offered through RL is equivalent to the conventional
programmes offered on campus. MQA fully accredits all programmes offered. Besides, UM
has a teaching and learning management platform that is easy to use and allows students
to remain connected and access digital learning material online from the comfort of
home.

Cost Effective
Tuition fees of RL programmes are very much affordable compared to conventional
programmes offered by most other private universities. Remote learning eliminates extra
costs like housing, transportation, and other living expenses, allowing students to save
more money each semester.

Ability to self-discipline
To be successful, remote learning requires its students to be just as efficient and organized
as they would be in a traditional academic setting, helping mould them into
self-motivated, responsible individuals.
