ics Donation Drive
ICS ran a donation drive to help victims
of the 2021 flood disaster in Kuala
Lumpur and other surrounding areas.
Funds raised from IUMW students
and within the community were used
to purchase essential items for flood
relief including towels, blankets,
toothbrush sets, torchlights, food, milk
powder, and clothes.
raising EcO aWarEnEss
iuMW BioBlitz challenge
The IUMW BioBlitz Challenge was
held in conjunction with the Klang
Valley City Nature Challenge (CNC)
which is a part of the global CNC.
Participants took pictures of various
species of flora and fauna in an effort
to document their location and rarity;
spread environmental awareness;
and promote citizen science
among Malaysians. All in all, 1,200
observations were collected. Working
with Sekitar Kita and Water Warriors
(UM), all results were tabulated to
contribute to Malaysia’s placement in
the global City Nature Challenge, an
international effort to document plants
and wildlife in cities across the globe.

Between 24th March - 17th April
2021, student volunteers ran a series
of fundraising activities including
language classes (Japanese, Chinese
and Tamil), “Play for Charity” and
interactive activity with children
from Yayasan Sunbeams, a non-
governmental, self-supporting
multi-racial foundation that nurtures
displaced, abused and neglected
children of single parents.

The IUMW Indian Cultural Society
(ICS) conducted the virtual “Project
I.C.S (Inspire, Care, Shine)”, which
offered multiple workshops including
Photography Editing, Zumba and an
Entrepreneurial Talk. The workshops
were chargeable and raised funds
for students in need, especially those
affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
