                                                    of    traditional     and     recent     elements      of
                                                    multiculturalism. (P5)

                                                    Asia and Europe and their respective perspectives of

                 Synopsis of Course             This  course  provides  an  introduction  to  the  study  of
                 Contents                       societies  and  the  “cultural”  constituents  such  as
                                                ethnicities, genders, beliefs, lifestyles etc.) that create –
                                                often  conflicting  –  identities.  It  examines  policies  and
                                                issues  related  to  migration,  social  integration  and
                                                attitudes  of  different  cultural  ethnic  groups  within  the
                                                context     of    regional    integration    and     national
                                                consolidation. It analyses the complexity of the concept,
                                                policies  and  the  practice  of  multiculturalism  and  other
                                                related issues in Asia and Europe. Since societies do not
                                                exist  in  isolation,  the  course  shows  the  different
                                                perspectives of Asia and Europe on each other.
