The culmination of the Asian Students Environment Platform (ASEP) 2022 heralded not
only the conclusion of a transformative journey but also the beginning of a renewed
commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development by the AEON
Environmental Foundation as well as the participating universities. Anchored by the dual
themes of "Building A Recycling Society" and "My Satoyama," ASEP 2022 epitomized the
collective resolve of all participants from ten esteemed universities across Asia to address
pressing environmental challenges and promote local sustainability initiatives. As the
virtual stage was set, the participants had embarked on an immersive exploration of
innovative approaches to waste management, resource conservation, and community
engagement. Through interactive workshops, virtual field visits, and collaborative group
projects, the participants exchanged insights, shared best practices, and developed
actionable strategies to effect positive change in their communities and beyond. The
presentation of the results session displayed the fruits of their labour, highlighting the
ingenuity and commitment of participants to advancing environmental sustainability.
Additionally, the "My Satoyama" initiative provided a platform for participants to honour
their local communities and share grassroots environmental efforts, fostering a deeper
appreciation for the interconnectedness of global and local sustainability initiatives.
