Capacity Building Workshop and Family Day
Department of Science and Technology Studies
(STS) were held 10-12 Feb 2017 at the Grand Beach
Resort, Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan. The fun event
was participated by STS staff and their family
members.
The Capacity Building workshop was aptly entitled
“Bengkel Jati Diri Kearah Kecemerlangan”, with the
aim to equip and motivate all STS staff to achieve
excellence in all areas of work. The Family Day on the
other hand aimed to enhance social interaction and
sense of belonging to the department.
The event kicked-off with a barbeque night by the
sea after the gotong royong session. Our head of
department, Associate Professor Che Wan Jasimah
ended the night with an enthusiastic address on the
strategic purpose of the workshop and the spirit of
the family day. members. Various sorts of games were organized,

capital, conducive infrastructure and
internationalization - staff are brainstormed for
input to target four objectives: (1) Increase student
enrolment (2) Boost publication; (3) Enhance
research activities; (4) Quality service and delivery.
Results from the brainstorming were presented by
a representative from each group, and a written
report was prepared based on the collective
outputs.
In addition, the workshop also included a
motivational session facilitated by Dr Ahmad Faisal
Abdul Hamid from the Academy of Islamic Studies,
University of Malaya. The session placed a particular
emphasis on the importance of leadership and
team work.
The day ended with a tele match session, a fun-
filled activity involving all staff and their family
with each competing groups combining adult and
junior players from different families. As evening
fades away, everyone gathered for a cheerful group
photo - ending the day with a high note.
