the Dean of the Faculty. In a situation where the problem cannot be resolved at
the Faculty level, the candidate can bring the matter to the Dean of the Institute of
Graduate Studies (IGS).

International candidates can also seek support and advice on non-academic
matters from ISC. The services of the Counselling, Career and Disability Section
of the University of Malaya‘s Student Affairs Section are also available to

Withdrawal from the University

(1) ―Withdrawal from the University‖ means withdrawal from a programme of
study whereupon a student shall not continue with the programme of study
currently pursued.

(2) An application to withdraw from a programme of study shall be made in
writing and in accordance with prescribed procedures through the Dean of
the Faculty to the Dean of the Institute of Graduate Studies (IGS) or any
designated officer of the University.

(3) Any decision with respect to withdrawal from the University shall be final.


Appeals for Re-admission

A candidate who has withdrawn from a Degree programme of study may apply
to be considered for admission to the Degree programme of study or any other
higher degree programmes of the University.

A candidate of a degree programme by Research or Mixed-mode, whose
candidature has lapsed due to failure to renew the candidature or the expiry of
the maximum period of candidature, may apply for re-admission to the Degree
programme of study but in a different field and is to be supervised by a different
supervisor.

A candidate of a degree programme of study by Coursework or Clinical, whose
candidature has lapsed due to failure to renew the candidature or the expiry of
the maximum period of candidature, may apply for re-admission to any other
programme of study in the University.
