                  PhD GOT IT
                  The ‗PhD GOT It‘ is a programme which aims to inculcate the best practices and
                  guidance  for Doctoral  candidates to complete  their  research  and Graduate  on
                  Time. This programme consists of forums,  seminars and  workshops conducted
                  by invited panelists, speakers and facilitators from UM.


                  University of Malaya Three Minute Thesis (UM3MT)
                  The UM3MT  is  an  annual  communication  competition, designed for  PhD
                  candidates to showcase  their  academic and research  communication  skills
                  through a three-minute presentation. Candidates who won the competition at the
                  university level will  represent the  University of  Malaya  at the  national 3MT
                  competition.

                  Avoiding Plagiarism

                  As an enrolled student and member of the University of Malaya candidates are
                  expected to produce original academic work.  Failure to acknowledge the work of
                  others in their  work means the  candidate is guilty of  plagiarism.   A  candidate
                  who is found to have plagiarized his assignments or any written work that is part
                  of  the  assessment in  a course  or programme  may  be  subjected  to disciplinary
                  action under the University of Malaya (Discipline of Candidates) Rules 1999. All
                  rules and regulations pertaining to acts of  plagiarism  are  clearly outlined in,
                  “„How to Avoid Plagiarism: A Handbook for Postgraduate Candidates”.

                  The handbook can be downloaded at IGS website (Rules and Regulations).

                  Candidates  are  advised  to read  this handbook which  also offers  guidelines on
                  citation methodology and to check their work for originality by using the Turnitin
                  software. A quickstart for candidates on how to use the Turnitin software can be
                  found at http://software.um.edu.my/turnitin.html
