(5) Notwithstanding anything stated in subregulation (4), a candidate pursuing a programme
of study by Research, with the approval of the Faculty, can be assumed to have met the
Academic Residential Requirement if he has fulfilled any one (1) of the following:
(a) followed and passed the Research Methodology course; or
(b) presented the Proposal Defence; or
(c) presented the Candidature Defence; or
(d) has face to face consultation with the supervisor, as determined by the Faculty; or
(e) participated in the activities of the Faculty as determined by the Faculty.
Withdrawal from a Course
The following provisions shall apply to withdrawal from any course:
(1) A withdrawal from any course means withdrawal from one (1) or more courses in any
semester.
(2) A candidate is not allowed to withdraw from a course after the verification of registration
is made.
(3) Not withstanding anything stated in Regulation 9, in certain circumstances, the Deputy
Vice Chancellor concerned may make a decision otherwise
Withdrawal from a Semester
“Withdrawal from a semester” means withdrawal from all registered courses and all teaching
and learning activities as well as research activities for the semester concerned. The candidate
is only allowed to withdraw from a semester after he has undergone at least one (1) semester
of his programme of study except for medical reasons.

Note: * Candidate who withdraws from a semester will be charged a minimum payment to retain the candidature.
All applications for withdrawal from a semester shall be made to the Dean of the Faculty via
MAYA system for consideration and approval.
