AI systems are, but by how ethically they use them — by how they integrate
compassion into computation, and sustainability into science.

Ladies and gentlemen,
26. ASEAN has long been a story of cooperation amidst diversity. We now have an
opportunity to make it a story of conscience amidst competition.
27. Let ASEAN lead the moral renaissance of education — where
universities become stabilising forces in a turbulent world.
Let our research tackle the existential challenges of humanity — climate
adaptation, food security, disease prevention, and digital ethics.
28. And let our classrooms be sanctuaries of peace — where students from across
borders learn not only the sciences of innovation, but the art of coexistence.
29. Every institution needs physical infrastructure — buildings, labs, networks.But
the true infrastructure of higher education is moral: truth, trust, and transparency.
30. When integrity collapses, rankings cannot save us. When purpose fades, prestige
becomes hollow.We must defend the sanctity of education against cynicism, and
rebuild its credibility as a space of enlightenment, not elitism.
31. Because when the world grows darker, universities must shine brighter — as
beacons of reason, hope, and humanity.

we can invest in the architecture of peace — in minds that heal, in research that

34. The health of higher education is the health of humanity. When education thrives,
societies prosper. When it falters, civilisation itself is at risk.
35. Let us therefore move from resilience to renaissance — from recovery to renewal —
and ensure that the future of higher education is not only fortified, but humanised.
36. Every student we teach, every community we serve, every partnership we forge
— is part of the same global bloodstream that nourishes hope and understanding.
37. As we chart our future together, let us remember: A university’s immunity is not
built in isolation. It grows through collaboration, compassion, and courage.
38. Together, let us chart a new era of fortified, foresighted, and fundamentally human
higher education — for ASEAN, for the world, and for the generations yet to come.
