I feel very excited to welcome all of you to this glorious Faculty. Yes, we are old, and its not difficult
to notice all the evidence of aging in your surrounding you as testaments of the toll that time has
taken. But “old” doesn’t even come close to describing what Faculty of Science is

Faculty of Science is usually “one of the Top 3” faculties that contributes to UM’s publications
performance.

Faculty of Science publishes at least 75% of its research papers in high impact journals (Q1 and Q2).

Faculty of Science is usually one of the Top 3 faculties securing research grants, from internal,
external and international sources.

These facts only serve to the one obvious fact – that Faculty of Science Universiti Malaya is THE
place to be, to satisfy your thirst for knowledge and innovation. This is the institution where YOU
can make your dreams a reality.

Congratulations to all of you who have made it to this Faculty and University. Admission to the
academic programmes offered by the Faculty of Science has always been very competitive. I hope
all of you will make full use of this golden opportunity to enhance your cognitive skills as well as
improve you soft skills and personal qualities, and be ever ready to face the challenging world with
vigour and confidence when you complete your studies.
