IIRG: Selected Projects

               Introduction

The projects featured in this book were funded by the Universiti Malaya Impact-Oriented Interdisciplinary Research
Grant (IIRG) scheme. In line with the university’s vision to be a global university impacting the world, the aim of this
grant is to develop impactful research projects that address real world issues which are relevant to society and industry.

IIRG projects are designed to create an impact beyond academia through effective engagement between researchers
and stakeholders as well as research beneficiaries right from the early stages of planning and developing the projects.
Each project is an integration of at least three groups of researchers from different disciplines who work together to
               address complex problems or issues.

The IIRG programme has thus far funded four cycles of projects comprising 95 projects in total. In this book, we feature

selected research from cycle 1 (2019- 2022). The recipients of the 2022-2024 cycle will be announced by the end of
               2022.
