17 BACHELOR OF SPORTS SCIENCE(EXERCISE SCIENCE) 2020/2021 ACADEMIC SESSION
STRUCTURE, DURATION AND METHOD OF DELIVERY
This is a full-time study programme of 126 credit hours in which students must register and
pass all courses with a minimum grade of C. The structure of the programme is as follows:

In addition, students are required to enrol and pass Elective Courses and External Faculty
Elective Courses as determined by the University from time to time.
(1) Minimum period = 7 semesters
(2) Maximum period = 11 semesters.
Method of delivery is through a combination of teaching approaches such as: lecture sessions
which are face to face (F2F); integrated learning (e.g. tutorial and group discussion, forum,
seminar, and research project), student-centred learning (e.g. field work, written assignments,
presentation) and internship (practical).
METHOD OF ASSESSMENT AND WEIGHTAGE
Student progress is evaluated through various methods, including academic exercise/project
papers that comprise written assignments, projects, seminar and theoretical analysis. The
weightage of assessment for all courses under the Bachelor of Sports Science (except those
offered by other faculties) is as follows:
1. Courses : Continuous Assessment - 60% and Final Exam - 40%
2. Seminar : Continuous Assessment - 100%
3. Internship : Continuous Assessment - 100%
Although assignments, projects and class tests are important, the final exam is emphasized
within the structure of the curriculum through specific courses that has been fixed with the
percentage of 40%.
CAREER PROSPECTS
Graduates of the Exercise Science program can work as fitness trainers, physical education
teachers, coaches and sports researchers in various organizations including: National Sports
Council, State Sports Councils, Ministry of Youth and Sports, State Youth and Sports
Departments, golf clubs, fitness clubs/studios, sports associations and sports equipment
companies. Graduates may also choose to work in the field of sports business, mass media,
sports consultancy and other sports-related industries.
