CONTROL LAB
Temperature Measurement and Calibration
Objectives:
• To explore the functionality of the platinum resistance
thermometer (PRT) and assess its linearity.
• To evaluate the linearity and precision of liquid-filled glass, gas
(vapor) pressure, and bi-metal devices through calibration
against a reference sensor.
• To examine the operational principles and linearity of the NTC
thermistor and thermocouples.
• To compare the linearity of J and K type thermocouples.
Equipment:
• PRT
• bi-metal devices
• NTC thermistor
• J and K type thermocouples
ROTATIONAL SPEED FOLLOWER CONTROL WITH PID CONTROLLER
(OPEN-ENDED)
OBJECTIVES:
To test and evaluate the rotational speed control with a PID
controller
SENSORS AND INSTRUMENTATION SYSTEM
OBJECTIVES:
• To assess the performance of strain gauges for
measurement of linear displacement
• To understand the use of strain gauges in a potential
divider, quarter, half and full bridge configurations and
the relative sensitivities in each case
• To assess the sources of error in using strain gauges to LAB SUPERVISOR
