             Course Learning Outcomes*              At the end of this course, students are able to:

                                                    1.  Review Elasticity theory and apply matrix approach to define stress
                                                       and strain tensors; Define general form of Hooke’s Law and
                                                       Constitutive equation of stress and strain in three dimensional
                                                       structural system.
                                                    2.  Derive the matrix stiffness coefficients and apply the use of matrix
                                                       stiffness method on plane frame, truss and continuous beams
                                                       members.
                                                    3.  Implementation of FEA computer software application incorporating
                                                       the basic principles of finite element analysis (FEA).
                                                    4.  Formulate the effect of axial forces on frame members and derive
                                                       formulation for stability functions.
                                                    5.  Derive formulation for dynamics systems and apply them to civil and
                                                       structural applications.
                                                    6.  Apply the use of yield line theory in the analysis of reinforced concrete
                                                       slabs
