COURSE INFORMATION FOR CURRENT SEMESTER/TERM
Code KEEE3235
Title Microprocessor & Microcontroller
Pre-requisite KEEE2232
Student Learning Time (SLT) 120 hours
Credit 3
Learning Outcomes 1. Describe machine codes, types of addressing modes, convert
machine language into assembly language and vice versa, pin lay-
out of the microprocessor and fetch-execute cycle.
2. Define the correct instructions needed to write basic and ad-
vanced programs.
3. Design a basic MC6809 microprocessor system comprising PIA,
ACIA, RAM and EPROM.
Synopsis This course introduces the MC6800 and MC6809 microprocessors.
The software and hardware aspects of the microprocessors are cov-
ered in detail. The students are exposed to the machine language
and assembly language. Many examples of using the assembly lan-
guage to write programs are taught. The course also covers the pe-
ripheral chips such as PIA, ACIA and RAM and ROM. The students
are taught on how to design a microprocessor system.
Assessment 40 % Continuous Assessments
60 % Final Examination
