Pre-requisite None
Student Learning Time (SLT) 80 hours
Credit 2
Learning Outcomes i. Describe simple principles of active / passive semiconducting
devices.
ii. Discuss the use of the semiconducting devices in a number of
basic electronic circuits
iii. Apply large signal and small signal equivalent circuits in inter-
preting the operation of the electronic circuits
iv. Investigate various adaptation of semiconducting devices in
standard circuit configuration
Synopsis This course provides an introduction to modern electronic circuit de-
sign and to the concepts of active and passive semiconducting de-
vices (diodes, bipolar and FET transistors), and a discussion of their
use in a number of basic electronic circuits i.e. amplifiers
Assessment 40 % Continuous Assessments
