Synopsis of Course Contents Fundamental concepts of solidification including nucleation and microstruc-
tures evolution during solidification as well as diffusion in transformation.
The various types of phase and the phase stability theories, Gibb’s free
energy and its relation to the phase stability and phase transformation. The
use of the different types of phase diagrams for processing of materials; the
type of cooling; and for determine the structure of materials. Types of phase
transformations; TTT and CCT diagrams.
