                                                   1. Describe components, operating principle and efficiency characteristics
                                                     of internal combustion engines.
                                                   2.  Identify  new  fuels,  fuels  properties,  air-fuel  ratio  their  effect  on  engine
                                                     operating characteristics.
                                                   3. Explain combustion, pollutant formation and heat transfer systems in IC
                                                     engines.
                                                   4. Discuss heat lost due to coolant, friction and lubrication characteristics.

             Synopsis of Course Contents           This course introduces engine components, operating principle for ideal air
                                                   standard and real cycles and efficiency characteristics of internal combus-
                                                   tion engines. New fuels such as biofuels, fuels properties, air-fuel ratio, fuel
                                                   intake  system  and  their  effect  on  engine  operating  characteristics  will  be
                                                   identified. Details of combustion for SI and CI engines, pollutant formations
                                                   such  as  exhaust  emissions  and  heat  transfer  systems  will  be  evaluated.
                                                   This course will discuss about heat lost due to coolant, friction and lubrica-
                                                   tion characteristics.
