Synopsis of Course This course provides an introduction to the study of
Contents societies and the “cultural” constituents such as
ethnicities, genders, beliefs, lifestyles etc.) that create –
often conflicting – identities. It examines policies and
issues related to migration, social integration and
attitudes of different cultural ethnic groups within the
context of regional integration and national
consolidation. It analyses the complexity of the concept,
policies and the practice of multiculturalism and other
related issues in Asia and Europe. Since societies do not
exist in isolation, the course shows the different
perspectives of Asia and Europe on each other.
