This course introduces students to the
concept of spatial in Geography in
general and particularly in
Geographical Information System
(GIS). Emphasis will be given to the
fundamental concepts of spatial in
Geography and GIS. Concentration
will be given to the principles and
basic problems of spatial. In addition,
the basic elements of spatial will be
explained and how GIS is used to
solve spatial problems in today.

This course begins with the history of
early civilization in Malaysia before
discussing the Malay Sultanates and
the emergence of new Malay
kingdoms. Then, the discussion will
be focusing on the involvement of
foreign powers (Portuguese, Dutch,
British and Japan) and their impact
towards the Malaysian administration,
society and economy. This course will
also highlights the development of
local nationalism and fight for
independence as well as the
development of Malaysian politics,
economy and social since 1963.
