PO8 Produce and market innovative products in counselling, guidance and
psychological services.
6. Program Structure
(1) The programme of studies for the Master of Counselling is offered in two (2) course modes
namely by Coursework worth fifty-one (51) credits and by Research. The details are as
follows:
(a) Programme by Coursework
(i) Two (2) Faculty Core Courses each worth three (3) credits
(ii) One (1) Research Report worth six (6) credits
(iii) Ten (10) Compulsory Courses in the Field of Secialization with each
course totaling three (3) credits, and one (1) more Compulsory Course in
the Field of Specialization totaling six (6) credits; and
(iv) One (1) course Elective Course in the Field of Specialization for a total
of three (3) credits
(b) Programme by Research
This programme is conducted entirely by research leading to the production of
dissertation. However, the candidate is required to take a course in introduction to
Research in Education (PXGZ6101).
(2) Details of the courses offered are as approved by the Senate from time to time on the
Faculty recommendation and are made known to candidates at the beginning of each
session.
(3) The list of courses approved by the Senate for the Master of Counselling programme by
Coursework is as stated in List 1. Candidates shall be informed of the required course
combination for this programme before the initial registration.
