Dean’s Message
Professor Dr. Noor Azina Ismail
The Faculty of Economics and Administration has yet again continued its progress in the
field of higher education by continuing to perform well nationally and internationally in
research, teaching and supervision over the year 2016. While the number of academic staffs
with doctorates rose, the number of doctoral and masters students enrolling to undertake
graduate studies reached admirable numbers, despite the University raising the qualifying
floor of a cumulative grade point score to 3.0 out of 4.0 in the undergraduate degree program.
The doctoral and master students’ completion rates within seven (7) and five (5) semesters
respectively also improved to 52.2% and 90.5% respectively. Teaching quality of Faculty
staff based on students’ evaluation remained high with 99.1% of them achieving scores
higher than 3.5 out of 5.0. Teaching quality received a major recognition as 77.8% of the
undergraduates gained employment within six (6) months of graduation. Lecturers also
actively presented their ideas and papers in 67 conferences which includes both local and
international conferences.
Faculty staff did well to generate RM10,216,450.51 worth of research grants which include
international and local grants for a duration of one until three (3) years. In doing so 35
members managed to lead research projects as principal investigators. The number of
publications of Faculty staff as a consequence rose strongly in 2016. Publications in Index of
