The issues being addressed
CONCRETE is the most popular construction material worldwide, with
an annual global production rate of 2.5%.
However, there is an inevitable growing problem due to the physical,
chemical, and biological deterioration of this material.
Issues include:
the collapse of buildings and bridges.
the leaking of waste materials in nuclear waste storage sites.
the leakage of carbon dioxide (CO2) in geological carbon sequestration wells.
