The issue being adressed
Despite the existence of the preschool oral health care programme in
Malaysia since 1984, the prevalence of dental caries (or tooth decay) in 5-
year-old children remains high, e.g., at 71.3% in the 2015 national survey.
Reasons:
Consumption of sugary food and drinks
Infrequent use of fluoride toothpaste
Low level of involvement in children's oral health by teachers
Poor parental oral health literacy
