Student Support

(1) Institute of Graduate Studies (IGS)

Current and potential postgraduate candidate can seek help and advice
from the Dean of IGS as well as the IGS staff on matters pertaining to
regulations, admissions and registration, student activities, financial aid,
assessment and graduation.

(2) Faculty/Academy/Institute/Centre

The Dean, the Deputy Dean (Higher Degree), the Head of Department and
the Administrative Officers of the candidate’s faculty will be their resource
persons in postgraduate matters pertaining to programme requirements;
examination and assessment ; supervisor; and, candidature requirements
such as requests for withdrawal from semester or courses, extension and
period of candidature.

Candidate is highly encouraged to visit the Faculty/Academy/Institute/
Centre website for latest updates regularly.

(3) Library

The University of Malaya Library consists of a Main Library which
provides library facilities and a network of branch and special libraries to
meet the specific and special needs of some faculties. The core business of
the Library is to support the teaching, learning and research needs of the
university. The Library also conducts information skills sessions as follows:

(a) Information Skills Sessions for candidate.

These 2 hour sessions are held at least twice weekly. Candidate will be
alerted to the wide range of information sources in the library
especially the electronic sources such as the online databases.

(b) Individual Consultancy sessions for researchers

In this session, Doctoral candidate and academic staff will be guided to
the information sources in the library pertaining to their specific area of
research.
