AUN-QA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
TON DUC THANG UNIVERSITY, DECEMBER 11-13, 2024,
HO CHI MINH CITY
Universiti Malaya was invited by the AUN-QA Secretariat to share its Universiti
Malaya Quality Excellence Index (UMQEI) at the AUN-QA International Conference,
held at Ton Duc Thang University, Ho Chi Minh City, from December 11–13, 2024.
The conference theme, "Cultivating Excellence and Future-Proofing ASEAN’s Higher
Education," set the stage for UM to showcase its innovative efforts in quality
assurance.
Represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amalina, Director of the Capacity Building and
Compliance Division at QMEC, UM presented its groundbreaking UMQEI framework
during the session titled "Methods, Techniques, and Practices to Stay Ahead of the
Curve." The presentation highlighted how UMQEI emphasizes evidence-based
evaluation, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement to enhance
academic and institutional quality. The framework aligns seamlessly with the
session’s focus on proactive methods to maintain leadership in quality standards and
institutional excellence.
The AUN-QA Secretariat covered all associated costs, reflecting the significance of
UMQEI as a model for quality assurance. Dr. Amalina’s presentation resonated
strongly with international participants, offering valuable insights into leveraging
quality management tools for strategic impact.
The conference, attended by quality assurance professionals and educators from
across ASEAN, provided an excellent platform for exchanging best practices. UM’s
participation highlighted its dedication to promoting academic excellence and
fostering regional collaboration in quality assurance initiatives, further reinforcing
its position as a leader in higher education innovation.
