                                               1.   Describe the need and purpose for physical conditioning

                                               4.   Conduct various forms of physical conditioning training programs
                    Synopsis of Course Contents   This  course  covers  the  areas  concerning  physical  conditioning.  The  content  of  this
                                               course includes  various state of the art physical  conditioning training programs.
                                               Movement competency and various safety issues will be discussed. Knowledge from
                                               this  course is beneficial for  the purpose of  conducting  safe and effective training
                                               programs. Students will also be exposed to training in the gymnasium and laboratory.

                                               1.   Explain the concepts and principles of research.
                                               2.   Distinguish between different types of research methods.
                                               3.   Explain procedures to conduct research and data analysis.
                    Synopsis of Course Contents   This course provides an overview of the research process, from identifying problems,
                                               conducting research, statistical analysis and writing research reports. Various methods
                                               of research in sports science will be discussed. Students will also be exposed to basic
                                               statistical concepts.

                    Learning Outcomes          At the end of the course, students are able to:
                                               1.   Distinguish the roles of macronutrients and micronutrients, nutrient digestion
                                                  and energy metabolism in the body during rest and exercise.
                                               2.   Plan assessment of food intake, energy intake, energy production and body
                                                  composition.
                                               3.   Analyze the principles of energy balance and its application in
                                                  weight management.
                    Synopsis of Course Contents   This course on the whole is to provide knowledge about nutrition and energy and its
                                               application in  exercise.  Students  will  know  the  measuring  methods  for  assessing
                                               energy  intake  and  expenditure  in  identifying  the  nutritional  status  through dietary
                                               patterns and nutritional analysis in the laboratory. The course also provides a
                                               fundamental understanding of energy balance for controlling weight and body
                                               composition as well as understanding doping and tests related to doping.
