We felt happy to cheer and motivate people. But
nowadays we seldom see those medical practitioners
hold birthday parties for patients.
- UMMC nurses
It was really despairing to hear about the weakening
relationship between medical practitioners and patients.
But nonetheless, I was surprised when Puan Roslah told
us that she even drove her patients back home or even let
them stay overnight at her place because they were
suffering from financial issues. I felt touched seeing how
Puan Roslah treated all her patients as her family
members.

A few years later, Puan Roslah got married. Indeed, Puan Roslah built a strong rapport with her
patients. She said that her patients even drove for a long journey to attend her wedding. She was
utterly happy and said, “I did not expect some of my patients to remember me and present themselves during
my wedding.” Their presence in the wedding made Puan Roslah realise that her hard work and her love
for her patients were really worth it. Hearing the stories she shared, I felt that Puan Roslah was such a
lovely nurse that will surely leave a good impression in all her patients’ minds.
She felt disappointed because the connection between medical practitioners and patients is not as
close-knit as before. “They are more immersed in their phone compared to their patients nowadays.” It was
obvious that technology had shaped this phenomenon. Technology is killing human relationships
when medical practitioners tend to pay their phones more attention than they do to their patients.
We could feel that Puan Roslah would like to relive those happy moments spent with her patients and
colleagues from the spark in her eyes when she reminisced about her career life. Just like what she
said, "Love your profession, do well, then you shall be happy in your whole life."
