PROGRAMME GOAL
The Master of Science (Biotechnology) Programme was established in 1989 to train graduates from
various disciplines ranging from biological sciences, chemical engineering and related medical
sciences, for a career in the emerging field of biotechnology. The programme has been fine-tuned
over the years to focus on the various new technologies that will enhance biotechnology research in
Malaysia. The programme consists of coursework (one semester) followed by research project (two
semesters). Laboratory sessions form an important part of the programme.
The programme aims to broaden the knowledge and understanding of the current technologies and
processes in the biotechnology industry.
