                 Roundtable: Gender Lens on Budget 2022



    Dr  Lai  Suat  Yan,  from  the  Gender  Studies  Programme  was
    a   panelist   and   policy   brief   writer   for   the   theme   gender-
    based violence that highlighted the issues and challenges
    confronted  and  budgetary  recommendations  for  capacity
    building,   human   and   physical   capitals   and   for   better
    policies and laws.


    The   gender   analysis   for   the   Budget   2022   also
    encompassed     other   themes,    namely,   education,
    economic   participation   and   opportunity,   leadership   and
    decision making and health.


    The   Gender   Lens   Budget   2022   is   an   initiative   of
    ENGENDER    Consultancy   and   Women’s   Aid   Organisation
    organised   on   11   March   2022   to   advocate   for   gender
    responsive   budgeting   in   Malaysia’s   national   budget.   It

    attracted   100   participants   on   Zoom   that   included   a
                                                              Lasimbang,   and   representative   from   the   Ministry   of
    Member of Parliament, namely, Wong Chen of Subang, a
                                                              Finance. The event was also livestreamed on Facebook.
