Congratulations!

    Members of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences won a
    total  of  six  awards  in  the  Anugerah  Cemerlang  Universiti                              Associate Professor
    Malaya  (Universiti  Malaya  Excellence  Award)  2022.                                             Firuza Begum
    Leading  the  field  was  Associate  Professor  Firuza  Begum                                          Mustapha
    Mustapha  (Deputy  Dean  and  Geography),  who  won  the                                        Best Teaching (Non-
                                                                                                       Science) Award,
    Best  Teaching  (Non-Science)  Award.  Another  teaching-                                     A co-writer for the Best
    related  award  went  to  Dr  Sheeba  Nettukandy  Chenoli                                  Book for Science category
    (Geography) for Innovative e-Learning.


    Dr  Yanti  Idaya  Aspura  Mohd  Khalid  and  the  Library  and
    Information Science Department won the Most Innovative
    Academic Programme Award. Associate Professor Helena
    Vakkey  (Deputy  Dean  and  International  &  Strategic
    Studies)  was  awarded  the  Best  Young  Researcher  (Non-  Dr Sheeba Nettukandy

    Dr  Vilashini  Somiah  (Gender  Studies)’s  book,  “Pelagic
    Alliance: Irregular Migrants and the Sea at the borders of
    Sabah” (Palgrave Macmillan, 2021) came in with the Best
    Book (Arts and Social Sciences) Award. In administration,
    Mr  Ahmad  Hilmi  Mohamad  Noor,  Senior  Assistant
    Registrar, won the Best Executive Award for the Grade N41-
    N44 category.

    Another  member  of  the  Faculty,  Professor  Hanafi  Husin,                                 Best Young Researcher
    who is also the Dean of the Faculty of Creative Arts, won                                       (Non-Science) Award
    the Most Creative Award. The Faculty is also proud of Tan
    Sri  K.  Kumaran,  a  former  Deputy  Federal  Minister,  for
    receiving a special award for High Impact Contribution to
    the  University;  Tan  Sri  Kumaran  helped  to  raise  a
    substantial  amount  of  financial  support  for  the  Indian  Dr Vilashini Somiah
