             Course Learning Outcomes*             By the end of this course, students are able to:

                                                   1.  Derive  mathematical  models,  transfer  functions,  electrical,  mechanical
                                                      and electrochemical time differential systems.
                                                   2. Describe quantitatively the transient response of first- and second-order
                                                      system from the transfer function.
                                                   3.  Determine  the  stability  of  a  system  represented  as  a  transfer  function
                                                      and analyze the steady-state error for a unity feedback system.
                                                   4. Use the root locus to design cascade compensators to improve both the
                                                      steady-state error and the transient response.

             Synopsis of Course Contents           To introduce the student the basic theory and practice of control engineer-
                                                   ing. The main goal is to enable the student to analyse and design control
                                                   systems in frequency domain representation. Students will become familiar
                                                   with analytical and will be exposed extensively to the use of computers for
                                                   analysis and design of control systems.
