You can only major in Japanese at the Faculty of Languages
and Linguistics, University of Malaya. Yes, we are THE
ONLY ONE in Malaysia!
Students can expect to have a good command of Japanese
language (equivalent to JLPT N2 Level) by the time of
graduation. Of course, if you are very ambitious then you
can challenge JLPT N1 as well! They can also have the
opportunity to gain knowledge on Japan society, culture,
history, literature and interact with students from Japanese
universities. Apart from that, students in the programme
would have the opportunity to study in Japan for 1 year with
scholarship.
Japan is one of the best study-abroad destinations for
students who are venturing abroad. The Japanese have a
profound respect for learning and are proud of sharing their
language and culture with international students. In
addition, it is a good Malaysian culture to people of Japan to
further mutual understanding between the two nations.
