Entry Requirements

Doctoral Degree Programmes

Programme by Research: Doctor of Philosophy

General Entry Requirements
• Master’s Degree by Research or;
• Clinical Master’s Degree or;
• Master’s Degree by Coursework or Mixed Mode with a CGPA of not less than 3.70 or;
• Master’s Degree by Coursework or Mixed Mode with a CGPA of 2.00 to 3.69 AND a Bachelor's Degree with a
CGPA of not less than 3.00 or;
• Master’s Degree by Coursework or Mixed Mode with a CGPA of not less than 3.00 to 3.69 AND APEL (A)
qualification or other qualification approved by the Senate or;
• Master’s Degree by Coursework or Mixed Mode with a CGPA of 2.00 to 3.69 AND Bachelor's Degree with a CGPA
of 2.50 to 2.99 may be considered if it meets at least one (1) of the following criteria ;
• Has relevant work experience; or
• Has produced publications in the relevant fields; or
• Scholarship recipient; or
• Universiti Malaya graduate; or
• Government agency staffor
• Pass the interview conducted by the Faculty; or
• Pass the Faculty’s special assessment.
• Master’s Degree by Coursework or Mixed Mode with a CGPA of 2.00 to 3.69 AND Bachelor's Degree with a CGPA
of 2.00 to 2.49 may be considered if meets at least;
i. One (1) criterion for UM graduate
ii. Two (2) criteria for non-UM graduate
• Possessed related working experience not less than five (5) years;
• Published at least one (1) publication in a refereed journal in a related field;
• Pass the interview conducted by the Faculty; or
• Pass the Faculty’s special assessment.

Doctoral Degree Programmes
Programme by Research: Doctor of Medicine

General Entry Requirements

• Master’s Degree or other equivalent qualifications in the relevant field;
• Clinical Master’s Degree; or
• Specialist Qualification in the clinical field; AND
• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or other equivalent qualification; AND has at least two (2) years
of experience as a medical practitioner

Doctoral Degree Programmes
Programme by Research: Doctor of Public Health

General Entry Requirements

• Master in Public Health with a CGPA of not less than 3.00 or its equivalent; or
• Master in a field related to Public Health with a CGPA of not less than 3.00 or its equivalent; AND
• Has relevant work experience of at least one (1) year or for a period as stipulated by the Department
from time to time.
