MIC3014: Advanced Medical Microbiology (Core: 3 Credit hours)
Learning Outcomes
1. Explain important pathogens and laboratory tests for diagnosis of infectious diseases.
2. Relate diseases, causative microorganisms, pathogenesis and body response to microbial
infections in the operation and management of a diagnostic laboratory.
3. Analyze the laboratory results for the investigation of microbial infection.
Course synopsis
This course emphasises important pathogen that cause human diseases. Emphasis is given on the
important key features of pathogens, pathogenesis, laboratory identification, treatment and
prevention measures.
