participants explored potential solutions and envisioned how human behaviour and

societal norms might evolve by the next ten years in 2033. This exercise encouraged

critical thinking and foresight, empowering participants to anticipate future challenges and

opportunities and develop proactive strategies for addressing them. Furthermore, the

session on understanding environmental news provided participants with the tools to

interpret and analyse environmental information critically. By imagining future values and

using futurology thinking to express the value of the future Earth, participants were

equipped with a framework for shaping common-sense environmental work that could

contribute to healing the planet. Through these activities, ASEP 2023 not only fostered a

deeper understanding of environmental issues but also empowered participants to

become agents of positive change in their communities and beyond. All in all, ASEP 2023

has been instrumental in promoting collaborative efforts to address environmental

challenges and envision a sustainable future. By providing a platform for interdisciplinary

dialogue, knowledge exchange, and capacity building, the program has laid the groundwork

for future collaboration among environmental leaders in the Asia-Pacific region and

beyond. As we move forward, it is imperative that we build upon the insights and

connections forged during ASEP 2023 to catalyse meaningful action and advance the

shared goal of a more sustainable and resilient planet for generations to come.
