CHAPTER 2

                                  Accreditation Policy

This chapter outlines QMEC accreditation policy and processes. The request for accreditation is the responsibility
of the programme owner and should be done at least one year before the accreditation is required for budgeting
            and planning purposes.

            2.1 ACCREDITATION PROCESS: PROFESSIONAL ACADEMIC
                  PROGRAMMES

Accreditation of Professional Programmes is done by the respective professional bodies. Tentatively, the programme
Owner needs to do the following:
               1. Register the intention of accreditation to the MQA through QMEC.
               2. Submission of PSAR documents as well as payment to MQA to be forwarded to the Professional Bodies.
               3. The Professional Bodies will conduct the whole accreditation process.
               4. The results will be conveyed by the Professional Bodies to MQA to be registered into MQR.
               5. The guidelines in this book may be used as a reference if the accreditation manual used by the professional
                   body is similar to COPPA.

            2.2 ACCREDITATION PROCESS: NON-PROFESSIONAL ACADEMIC
                  PROGRAMMES

According to MQA Act 2007, the joint technical committee is a requirement to deliberate and make recommendations
on the accreditation. However, some Professional bodies may not have a joint technical committee on accreditation.
Thus, the accreditation of these Professional Programmes will be handled by QMEC.
Accreditation of academic programmes (non-professional) is undertaken by QMEC at the request of the
            programme owner.
The accreditation process will focus on:
                   # outcomes and the internal systems developed by the programme owner to ensure that the graduates are
adequately prepared to enter the appropriate profession.
                   # determining the effectiveness of the quality assurance systems and procedures that ensure graduates are
adequately prepared to practice their profession.

            2.2.1 Application for Accreditation

The programme owner shall make an application for programme accreditation at least one year before the
accreditation is required (for full and reaccreditation). For provisional accreditation, the application should be done
immediately after the approval of the Mesyuarat Saringan Awal (MSA).
