At the end of the course, students are able to:

1 Menghuraikan sejarah perkembangan pemerintahan Khilafah Umayyah dan Khilafah
‘Abbasiyah dari aspek pemerintahan dan kemajuan negara.
Describe the history of the development of Islamic rule during the Kaliphates of Umayyad
and 'Abbasid in the aspects of government and state progress.
2 Membincangkan perkembangan Tamadun Islam pada zaman pemerintahan kerajaan
Umayyah dan ‘Abbasiyyah terutamanya dari aspek ilmu pengetahuan dan pendidikan serta
sumbangannya kepada pembangunan masyarakat kontemporari.
Discuss the development of Islamic civilization during the reign of the Umayyad and the
'Abbasid, especially in the aspect of knowledge and education and its contribution to the
development of contemporary society.
3 Menilai elemen positif dan negatif sejarah dan tamadun Islam pada zaman tersebut sebagai
iktibar dan pedoman kepada masyarakat Islam.
Evaluate the positive and negative elements of Islamic history and civilization during those
eras as lessons and guidance to Islamic society.

Sinopsis Kandungan Kursus / Synopsis of Course Content

Kursus ini membincangkan perkembangan sejarah dan tamadun Islam pada zaman pemerintahan
Khilafah Umayyah dan ‘Abbasiyyah yang merangkumi aspek politik dan pemerintahan, pentadbiran,
ilmu pengetahuan dan kebudayaan. Selain itu, kursus ini juga membolehkan pelajar menilai faktor-
faktor kegemilangan dan kemunduran tamadun Islam pada kedua-dua zaman tersebut untuk diambil
iktibar dan sebagai panduan kepada kehidupan kontemporari.

This course discusses the development of Islamic history and civilization during the caliphates of
Umayyad and ‘Abbasids, inclusive of the politics and governance, administration, knowledge and
cultural aspects as well as the establishment of scientific institutions before, during and after the
golden period of Islam. Besides that, the course also enables the students to evaluate the factors of
the glory and decline of Islamic civilization in both periods as lessons and guidance to contemporary
life.
