At the end of the course, students are able to:

1 Membincangkan perkembangan falsafah sejarah Islam dalam konteks perbandingannya
dengan falsafah sejarah barat.
Discuss the development of the philosophy of Islamic history in the context of its comparison
with western philosophy of history.
2 Menghuraikan sejarah perkembangan historiografi Islam dari abad pertama sehingga abad
keempat hijrah.
Describe the historical development of muslim historiography from the first century to the
fourth century a.h.
3 Menganalisis metodologi penulisan sejarah dalam karya-karya awal sejarah Islam sebagai
panduan penulisan sejarah islam moden
Analyze methodology of history writing in the early works of Islamic history as a guide to
modern Islamic history writing

Sinopsis Kandungan Kursus / Synopsis of Course Content

Kursus ini akan membincangkan tentang sejarah permulaan dan perkembangan Historiografi Islam,
sumber-sumber sejarah Islam dan kritikan sumber serta metodologi penulisan sejarah dalam Islam.
Selain itu, ia juga akan menganalisis sejarah perkembangan falsafah sejarah Islam serta
perbandingannya dengan falsafah sejarah Barat.

This course will discuss the historical development of Islamic historiography, sources of Islamic
history and historical criticism as well as the methodology of historical writing in Islam. In addition, it
will also analyze the historical development of the philosophy of Islamic history and its comparison
to Western Philosophy of History.
