Learning Outcomes At the end of the course, students are able to:
1. Define common sports injury terms
2. Explain the different types of injuries such as acute and overuse injuries, extreme
heat injuries in sports as well as ways of managing and preventing them.
3. Recognize anatomical landmarks that relate to injuries and identify the type of
examination to be used.
4. Identify common sports injuries and their mechanisms
Synopsis of Course Contents Students will garner knowledge of injuries in sports, such as acute and overuse injuries
and extreme heat injuries. At the same time students will be exposed to prevention
methods as well as basic treatment for the injuries. Students will be encouraged to sit for
the relevant certifications.
