Synopsis of Course Contents This course is offered to make the students aware about the significance of
quality and reliability in manufacturing and design engineering, and to pro-
vide them with the quantitative analyses and qualitative approaches perti-
nent to process quality. The main contents of the course are: importance,
benefit and scope of TQM/QM; Evolution-QC, TQC, QA, TQM; fundamen-
tals of statistics; problem analysis; QM tools & techniques –QC7, QM7 and
advanced tools/techniques- Control charts for variables and attributes; ac-
ceptance sampling; Continuous improvement techniques; QM systems and
ISO 9000/14000 series; six-sigma strategy; basic reliability; TQM imple-
mentation technique, 7-P Practices; change of organizational culture to-
wards quality.
