Synopsis of Course The course provides an interdisciplinary examination of
Contents historical transformation, social change and cultural
patterns of modern Europe. The aim is to provide a
foundation for students to understand the conditions
that gave birth to modern Europe, especially the
European Union. It offers an insight into the ways in
which national and regional dynamics have interacted in
shaping a unique pattern of regional integration. A key
focus is on the efforts of Europeans to shape their own
destinies and establish their role in the world.
