CIC3013 ISLAMIC BANKING 3 Credits
Synopsis:
The course equips the student with a comprehensive understanding of the development and operations of Islamic banking
both in Malaysia and other countries. The focus shall be made on the forms of Islamic commercial contracts used in
structuring the Islamic banking instruments and products, laws and regulations governing their operations and current
issues surrounding them particularly digitalisation of Islamic banking. The student will also be exposed to the risk
management processes undertaken by the Islamic banks.
Note: Students are encouraged to take CIC2002 Fundamentals of Shariah for Islamic Finance first before taking this course.

CIC2003 ISLAMIC FINANCIAL SYSTEM 3 Credits
Synopsis:
Throughout the course the students will be exposed to the concepts ad principles of Shariah and their implications to
business and financial transactions. The focus shall be made on the Shariah contracts used in developing the instruments
and products in the banking and financial markets as well as the governing laws that regulate their implementation. It will
enable the students to gain insights into the Islamic finance industry in Malaysia and other countries especially in their
legal frameworks, governance, structures and instruments.

CIC2007 MONEY AND BANKING 3 Credits
Synopsis:
This course will introduce students to the theory of money, the demand for money, the theory of money supply, monetary
policy and inflation, aggregate demand and supply, the interest rate term structure and analysis of financial institutions
and its impact on the price level and aggregate output in the economy.

CIC2010 FINANCIAL MODELLING AND MATHEMATICS 4 Credits
Synopsis:
The students will explore using Excel encompassing from basics to intermediate level covering essential commands and
functions as well as using Visual Basic as a programming tool. Certain topics in Corporate Finance will be applied with Excel
to reflect the actual usage in the real financial economy. The other part includes the study of Financial Mathematics, which
is important to prepare students for the rigorous application for advanced finance courses. This course will essentially be
covering topics such as basic algebra, linear and non-linear equations, matrix and differentiation.
