Research Methodology
Kaedah penyelidikan merupakan satu alat penting untuk merencana dan menjalankan sesuatu kajian sains sosial. Kursus ini akan meninjau dan
memberikan gambaran ke atas teknik-teknik dan orientasi yang digunakan dalam penyelidikan dan analisis kritikal terutamanya dalam bidang
penyelidikan sains sosial. Penekanan diberikan kepada aplikasi penyelidikan untuk memahami fenomena sosial. Penekanan juga diberikan
kepada penyediaan cadangan penyelidikan yang berkualiti dan pemilihan teknik pensampelan yang sesuai, instrumen pengumpulan data,
kaedah analisis data, interpretasi hasil penyelidikan dan penulisan laporan. Pelajar juga akan mempamerkan etika penyelidikan dalam setiap
tahap penyelidikan.
Research methodology is an indispensable tool in social science research. This course illustrates various techniques and orientations used in
research and critical analysis especially in the field of social sciences. Focus is given on the research application to comprehend social phenomena.
Emphasis is also given to the preparation of quality research proposal and the selection of appropriate sampling techniques, data collection
instruments, data analysis tools, interpretation of research results and report writing. Students will also have awareness regarding research ethics
at various stages of conducting research.

Pada peringkat ini pelajar didedahkan kepada teks-teks kefahaman, penggunaan kata-kata bahasa Vietnam, contohnya penjodoh bilangan,
kata lawan, kata berhubung, terminologi, dan struktur ayat yang lebih kompleks. Pelajar dilatih menulis karangan pendek, menterjemah dan
memberi pendapat dalam perbincangan terkawal.
At this level, students are introduced to comprehension passages, usages of Vietnamese words such as quantifier phrases, antonyms,
conjunctions, terminology, and structure of sentences that is more complex. Students learn to write short essays, do translations and give
opinions during discussions

Etnisiti, Identiti dan Politik Minoriti Asia Tenggara
Ethnicity, Identity and Politics of Minorities in Southeast Asia
Kursus ini akan mengkaji isu berkaitan golongan minoriti di Asia Tenggara dalam tiga bahagian. Bahagian pertama memperkenalkan konsep
berkaitan politik minoriti di Asia Tenggara. Seterusnya, perbincangan mengenai isu, faktor dan pelbagai perspektif berkaitan politik minoriti
akan diteliti menerusi beberapa kajian kes. Kategori pertama kajian kes merangkumi golongan etnik dan agama seperti etnik Karen dan
Rohingya (Burma), Melayu (Thailand), Moro (Filipina), Cham (Vietnam) dan Kristian Minahasa (Indonesia). Kategori kedua pula membincangkan
golongan minoriti pribumi (Borneo) dan migran Cina dan India di Asia Tenggara dengan mengaitkan faktor sejarah dan proses pembinaan
negara bangsa terhadap status semasa golongan minoriti ini. Bahagian ketiga kursus ini memfokus kepada aspek resolusi konflik seperti
autonomi, kedaulatan separa, perundangan dan pelbagai pendekatan lain. Seterusnya, polisi kerajaan-kerajaan Asia Tenggara dan peranan
agensi antarabangsa dalam mewujudkan suasana keterlibatan yang inklusif bagi golongan minoriti di Asia Tenggara akan dikaji.
The course will examine issues related to minorities in Southeast Asia in 3 parts. The first part introduces concepts related to politics of minorities
in Southeast Asia. This will be followed with a discussion of issues, causes and various perspectives related to the politics of minorities through an
examination of various case studies. The first category of case studies refer to ethnic and religious minorities such as the Karen and Rohingya
(Burma), Malay (Thailand), Moro (Filipina), Cham (Vietnam) and Minahasa (Indonesia). The second category discusses indigenous minorities in
Borneo and migrant minorities namely the Chinese and Indians in Southeast Asia, linking historical factors and the process of nation- state
formation to their present status in Southeast Asian nation states. The third part focuses on conflict resolution by examining autonomy, partial
sovereignty, legal recognition and other approaches for conflict resolution. Following this, the course evaluates existing state policies and role of
international agencies in creating an inclusive and participatory environment for minorities in Southeast Asia. Towards attaining sustainable peace
and inclusiveness of minorities in Southeast Asia.
