Kursus ini bertujuan untuk membincangkan perkembangan modenisasi Jepun sehingga menjadi sebuah negara moden yang pertama di
Asia dari segi pengalaman bangsa itu melalui sejarah. Para pelajar akan dapat melihat faktor-faktor yang menyumbang ke arah
modenisasi Jepun sejak zaman pertengahan hingga zaman moden.

This course aims to discuss the development of Japanese modernization process that led to the creation of the first ever modern state in
Asia through historical experiences. Students will be able to grasp the factors that have contributed to the modernization process from
the middle ages to the modern era.

Arts and Literature of Japan

Kursus ini meneliti trend utama dalam kesusasteraan Jepun dari tempoh permulaan sehingga moden. Pelajar akan mengkaji cerita-
cerita, lakonan dan novel dari zaman klasik, pertengahan dan moden, serta meletakkan setiap teks dalam konteks sosial dan sejarah
yang unik.

This course examines the major trends in Japanese literature from the beginning until the modern period. Students will study the stories,
plays and novels of the classical, medieval and modern, as well as to place every text in unique social and historical context.

Korean Civilization

Kandungan utama kursus ini termasuk pengenalan terhadap sejarah asal usul orang Korea, lagenda Korea, proses penubuhan
kerajaan-kerajaan kuno, penyatuan Korea, dinasti Silla Bersatu, Koryo dan Choson. Selain itu, evolusi dan perubahan budaya
masyarakat awal Korea seperti agama, kesusasteraan dan kesenian dari abad sebelum masihi sehingga abad ke-18 juga ditinjau.

This course will explore the origins of Korea, its legends, formative process of ancient Korean Kingdoms, unification of Korea, dynasties
of Silla, Koryo and early Choson. Evolution and changes of Korean culture such as religión, literature and arts in the old period will also
be examined.
