Classical Chinese Literature I

Kursus ini menumpu kepada memperkenalkan skop dan perkembangan sejarah sastera Cina klasik, menjelaskan secara sistematik dari
segi kemajuan masyarakat, budaya & bahasa dan perkembangan ekonomi & politik di negeri China. Di samping itu kursus ini juga akan
menghuraikan ciri-ciri utama bidang-bidang ini pada tempoh-tempoh perkembangan yang berlainan serta tokoh-tokoh dan karya- karya
representatif. Isi kandungan dan pemikiran karya-karya akan diperincikan. Perbincangan akan dikendalikan untuk menghubungkan para
pelajar kepada pengetahuan mengenai sastera Cina klasik dan mendekatkan mereka kepada ciri-ciri sastera yang berlainan.

This course introduces the scope and the development of the classical Chinese literature history; explains systematically in terms of the social
progress, cultural and linguistic as well as economic and political growth in China. It also derives major characteristics in the field at
different stages of the development, as well as the figures and their representative works. The contents and thoughts of the works will be
detailed. Discussions will be held to expose the students to knowledge regarding Classical Chinese literature and characteristics on various
types of literature.

Kursus ini menumpu kepada memperkenalkan skop dan perkembangan sejarah sastera Cina klasik dari Dinasti Tang sehingga Dinasti
Qing (618-1911), menjelaskan secara sistematik dari segi kemajuan masyarakat, budaya & bahasa dan perkembangan ekonomi & politik
di negeri China pada zaman tersebut. Di samping itu kursus ini juga akan menghuraikan ciri-ciri utama bidang-bidang ini pada
tempohtempoh perkembangan yang berlainan serta tokoh-tokoh dan karya- karya representatif. Isi kandungan dan pemikiran karya-
karya akan diperincikan. Perbincangan akan dikendalikan untuk menghubungkan para pelajar kepada pengetahuan mengenai sastera
Cina klasik dan mendekatkan mereka kepada ciri-ciri sastera yang berlainan.

This course focuses on introducing the scope and historical development of Chinese literary classic of the Tang Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty
(618-1911), explains systematically in terms of the social progress, cultural and linguistic as well as economic and political growth in
China. It also derives major characteristics in the field at different stages of the development, as well as the figures and their representative
works. The contents and thoughts of the works will be detailed. Discussions will be held to expose the students to knowledge regarding
Classical Chinese literature and characteristics on types of literature.

Politik, Institusi dan Budaya China Klasik
Classical Chinese Politic, Instituition and Culture

Kursus ini memperkenalkan politik, institusi dan budaya klasik China bertujuan untuk melengkapkan pelajar dengan pengetahuan asas
dalam pembelajaran Sinologi. Perkembangan penting dalam bidang politik, sosioekonomi dan intelektual klasik dikaji. Kursus ini juga
meneliti fungsi- fungsi politik, institusi dan budaya klasik China. Penekanan akan diberi kepada pembentukan ciriciri kecinaan masa kini
berdasarkan keadaan klasik tersebut.

This course introduces the areas of classical Chinese politics, institution and culture in order to prepare the students with the basic
knowledge needed for learning Sinology. The development of political institutions, social and economic development, intellectual progress
and the establishment of imperial system will be touched upon. The functions of classical Chinese politics, institution and culture will also
be scrutinised. Emphasis will be given to the discussions on how Chineseness emerge through these phenomena.
